Fannie Lou Hamer was one of the most prolific freedom fighters in history. During the American Civil Rights struggle she successfully fought for voting rights in the South, economic empowerment and political freedom. Hamer famously said “I'm sick & tired of being sick & tired” expressing a common frustration with postponed equity in America.
